We collect selected items for recycle and hope to gradually increase the numbers. Can you help? We collect
· Old cell phones which are reprogrammed for outgoing emergency numbers only. These are given to those in need. If you know of anyone who may be in need then talk to Todd Clark who has the information
· Empty inkjet print cartridges. Please wrap in paper or put in the original box when you replace with a new cartridge. We receive money for these cartridges which we use for our Outreach projects.

Guest preacher and teacher Sunday, February 19 We have the honor of having the Reverend Chris Webb as our preacher at the 9:00 and 11:15 services and as our teacher for an adult forum at 10:15. Raised up as a priest in his native Wales, he is respected across the nation and around the world for his leadership as President of Renovare. This is an exciting opportunity to invite guests not only to the Renovare Essentials Conference on that Saturday, but also to our worship and formation time on Sunday.

THE FIRE OF THE WORD
10:15 Forum in the Russell Hall
Chris explores how the Bible can become not only a source of information about God and faith, but a place where we can actually meet with God personally and directly.

Pancake Supper / Shrove Tuesday Tuesday, February 21 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. Please join your parish family in the Russell Hall for our annual Pancake Supper. Enjoy pancakes, bacon, sausage, and homemade applesauce. Dinner prices are $5.00 for adults and $3.00 for children 10 and under. Shrove Tuesday gets its name from the ritual of shriving. This is when the faithful confessed their sins to their local priest and received forgiveness before the Lenten season began. Shrove Tuesday also marked the beginning of the 40-day Lenten fasting period when the faithful were forbidden by the church to consume meat, butter, eggs, or milk. However, if a family had these foods they would go bad before Easter Sunday. What was a family to do? The solution: use up the milk, butter, and eggs no later than Shrove Tuesday. With the addition of a little flour, the solution quickly presented itself in pancakes. Lots of pancakes! Today, the Shrove Tuesday pancake tradition lives on at Emmanuel.
Ash Wednesday Wednesday, February 22 A day each Episcopalian is expected to be present for worship and to be marked with ashes as Lent begins. You can be at Emmanuel (7:00 a.m., 12:30 or 7:30 p.m.) or at another church on February 22.
